As a young teenager I was told “A job is a job” by adults. This may be true in one sense but I found working in a job at 15 that I didn’t enjoy became a chore and a struggle. My pay was very low and my friends were on unemployment and invited me to quit to go to the beach. The temptation was overwhelming but I had a goal, to received a good reference to help with a job I want to do. I didn’t like the job but I focused on learning how to cut glass, the guys working, break times to help get me through the day. I always set simple goals to get through school, my mates and lunch time were my incentives to get through the day. I wanted to be a pastrycook and for two years I worked as a trainee shop front fitter. I learnt a lot of skills as well as developing a rather fluent potty mouth working with tradesman. I was retrenched due to work shortage in that area and it was the best thing that happened. I could Pursue my goal to pastrycook. I did a pre apprenticeship course and recieved a job strait after. Follow your heart, aim for your goals, stay focused on the prise and learn along the way
